Ethnicity of this object
Hello all,
If anyone has any reference to this weapon as far as a similarity to some particular ethnicity , I would love to hear about it. It's 22" OAL Forged from W-2 roundstock. Giraffe and sterling handle. Thanks in advance Mark Williams |

Well, it is a modern weapon and the bladesmith obviously had various models at his disposal. Thus, I do not think one can say that it is a "modern rendition of a such-and-such sword from such-and-such country".
However, to me the blade looks very much like a Tibetan Ke Tri. Any other flights of fancy? |

Thanks for the input Guys.
Walmart A friend sent a link to some information on the Biawan. Looks very similar to the knives of that region. |

Memory Refresher
Baiwan , Formosa , Taiwan .
The sword/knife under discussion being contemporary knifemaker's work ; only the tip could reasonably be considered as having any Taiwanese influence . http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ighlight=rukai Last edited by Rick; 25th October 2005 at 05:32 PM. Reason: Not enough coffee yet !! |
