Default The second bargain of the evening!

And I have to say again congrats to a very happy winner, see here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...vip=true&rt=nc

And again I am the second high bidder! But I don't understand why it don't went much higher. Seldom you can see such a beautiful blade, all twist core, not only in the middle. Here the pictures for later reference.

Detlef

I was also closely following it and almost bid myself. I think the price is very reasonable. Looks Malay to me, no?
I would love to see this blade with an light etch...

Hello David,

I also think that the price is very reasonable. And my understanding tell me that it is a Malay kris or a Sulu kris, would like to read what Jose think about the okir work at the ferrule. An etch will bring out the real glory of this blade.

I am unsure about the scabbard, maybe the batang is attached wrong since the blade don't fit inside complete. I asked the seller about this but get the ignorant answer that this is normal by a kris like this. Also the horn tip don't look original. But think that this will be easy restore work.

Regards,

Detlef

Yup Malay through and through. The okir and style of hilt sleeve tell me this. Also notice the clamp and scabbard.

Detlef you may have a point on the scabbard not being right..........

Great piece and good price.

I was the third to the highest bidder. I did not continue bidding when I realized after reviewing previous posts in this forum that it is not moro, but a Malay sundang.
