I would hazard a guess that the other spear is from the Massim region of PNG and the Trobriands.

Hi Tim,
i have a new information since i got in contact with the Grassi museum in Leipzig, Germany, about these items. First i have to correct the orign of the lower spear. It came from Bougainville / Baku, northern Salomon Islands. (I should better read my texts )The lance above most probably comes from the northern PNG region, formerly Kaiser Wilhelm Land, near Potsdamhafen which is Awaro now. best Dirk |

Hello Dirk,
I am pleased that I mentioned "Massim" which is nNorth PNG. Just a guess. My wife says I might not get my head through the door. It is a super lance I wish it were mine. |
