Here are the other pictures for our archives. I believe it to be North Indian with gold over copper. Notice the second edge on top of the blade. It went for $1900!

I put in a last few seconds bid that wasn't even close. I think that the blade may well be wootz. Agree or disagree? Steve

Maybe but for that price let's hope so.

Probably the only non-muslim weapon I really wanted.

Stunning and unique piece!

I see the under bidder is a member of our community, perhaps he'll be prepared to share more?

Unhappy Here is a similar Khukuri

Gav I wasn't even close but, felt it's rarity deserved a go. I'm reminded of this one. http://www.oriental-arms.com/item.php?id=4373. Sorry at the moment having just switched to Win 7 I'm unable to add a photo. Steve

Indeed Archer, well worth a go, I would have bid too but a couple of Pata and tribal purchases left me short this week.
Another however pushed the envelope to the enth degree and nearly got it, I'd be interested to know more on his thoughts....still a bargain too in my opinion.
I have of course left him un-named in case he wished to remain anon.

It sure is a looker, but why the second edge? That has me puzzled.

Stabbing indeed Spiral.

I have had great honour in handling many fine and rare Kukri as many of you know and I hope the owner doesn't mind me saying say but this example is the best Kukri I ever handled in form, contruction and quality.

Indeed Gav!

It certainly looks a quality piece... Only one bit , I don't like, that of the blade riccaso extending below the hilt line.

Both aesthetically & practically that seems unnecessary to me.

But Id gladly home it for further study!

Certainly a non traditional point you note but it does flow through there...and in all honesty, after seeing the thread surface again, I can say the photos do not do the piece justice..not in the slightest.
