KERIS FOR COMMENT AND IDENTIFICATION
I welcome your opinions of this one.
The hilt appears to be marine ivory in the Madura style The blade does not look Balinese, but why the Buddha ? Do you think the Buddha was added much later. I have always thought it looked crudely carved although the gold leaf appears well done. Is it just an " Upmarket " Tourist piece? I bought it in 1985 from a dealer in the UK. He had no history with it. Thanks in advance Royston |
