Each chapter contains period drawings or photos of the weapons in use. Numerous close up photos of decorative and metallurgical details of various blades. With glossary.

--DAS WIENER BUERGERLICHE ZEUGHAUS (The Vienna City Armory), exhibition catalog, Vienna: Museum der Stadt Wien, 1977. 202 pp German text PLUS 103 pp photoplates, some in color, a few line drawings incl a useful one on evolution of Ottoman saber hilts. Vast collection of Euro. and Eastern arms and armor 15th -- 17th cent., focusing on equipment used during wars against the Turks, and arms captured from the Ottomans (Tuerkenbeute) in various campaigns. Ottoman arms shown include a number of kilijs, guns, bows, plus horsetail standards and a very rare lacquered leather shield. Everything described in typical Teutonic detail.
