Blade of roiling water
Just got this Palembang keris! Not a "high keris" but very pleasing!
The blade was washed Javanese style, which kind of "obliterated" the finer forging lines which were visible when it was in its original state, but the end-result was kind of unexpected - the pamor looked like water in a roiling river! It's very interesting to look at. Blade is very strong, 13.5inch long, and keen of edge still, which would suggest that it is not very old. The hilt is another highlight of this piece. The curve in the batang is not an optical illusion; it is really there. Normally, Palembang keris sheaths have straight batang. |
