Early dagger for ID
I've had this for a while, its 28cm overall, oak handle with a slender good steel blade. The blade decoration reminds me of 16th/17th century European blades, which is fine seeing as I'm in England. I've always had the feeling its a simple European dagger from that era, but I've never found another example to identify it with.
The blade extends to just behind the level of the second steel rivet/pin. There are thin brass strips reinforcing the front edge of the wood (one is missing). Single edged, sharp! I've always had a soft spot for it despite its simple manufacture. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Gene Last edited by Atlantia; 7th August 2008 at 01:21 AM. |
