Default Kilij and Yataghan: overcleaned?

Absolutely gorgeous Yataghan and ordinary but adequate Pala ( Kilij):

Usually, these types of blades come with rather profuse inscriptions; there are none here. Do you think the blades were overcleaned?
Also, the Damascus pattern of the Yataghan blade: we discussed "accidental" damascus pattern in regard to other blades.

The bottom-line conclusion was that some blades were not meant to be etched ...
Do you think this is what happened here?
