What strikes me about the sword that is the original subject of this thread is the curious "curl" on the back edge and the flamboyant "clip" to the blade. Those features are why I thought it looked like a parang pattani. On going back to Dave's original post, I was struck by the similarity to his first sword, which is definitely in the style of a klewang as you note for the example above.

The hilt on the example at the top of this thread could be Sumatran, as you say, but some pattani hilts are very similar.
