This is a fascinating item which truly accents the overall circumstances involving the storage of these weapons at the ready for use. It falls into the scope of the cannon on deck with fighting sail, applying to the markings on cannon which specified which location on deck each was to be situated in accord with weight distribution.

Extremely thoughtful and generous donation to the museum for the useful application to students of these arms study. I doubt many of these survive.
