Jack,

Nice museum quality jibba. The design and detailed motifs are similar to those in several collections shown on the web suggest the best ones were made in a workshop of experts in Omdurman during the Khalifa's era. The garb of the followers of the Mahdi along with the colors of the patches are full of Sufi and Mahdist related symbolism. I can't comment on the bull mace beyond it's high material quality although it is shown in a Google search.
