Default Russian? Hussars sabre?

This very worn sabre is rather big and a bit heavy. It seems to have been in service for a long and hard time.

According to my best guess it is of Russian origin with regards to the style of the lionhead and overall appearence.

Scabbard in leather with brass fittings and traces of guilding as well on the hilt. Blade is still sharp and have some nicks from cuts and the overall feeling is that it is a real weapon to fight with and I believe it have seen some real action in its days.

My guess is that is from around 1780-1800. Thankful for all other input regarding age and country.

Best regards, /Ulrik Sjöberg, Sweden
