Troopers sword pattern 1821 identification
Hello,
I would to the best of my knowledge of British swords say that this is a 1821 pattern troopers sabre, right? What strikes me is the condition it is in. It seems that it almost spent its entire life in a cabinet..Is it common that these swords are "as new or almost as new"? First I thougt that the scabbard was nickleplated but it is shiny bright metal and it does not look like someone polished it since new. Blade is spotless as well. Only the hilt has some patina. For how long where these manufactured? The only marking I can see is a tiny stamp on the drag-shoe of the scabbard. So my next question is if it is possible to point out who could have made it? Best regards/Ulrik Sjöberg, Sweden. |
