New one : Bali ?
Hi all,
Just received this knife this morning. It seems I'm finding more and more Indonesian stuff lately. This is one of my latest finds, others will follow. My guess is that it's from Bali. Could anyone tell me the correct name of this kind of knife ? I tried to look it up in the book by Zonneveld, but could find anything matching. I think it's an older one (judging from patina on the scabbard). The blade is straight. One edge is sharp over its entire length. The other side has a cutting edge of approx. 2/3 of the blade. This knife has no pamor. Scabbard and handle are made of wood. The scabbard has some iron binding. At the bottom a piece is missing. I'm planning to restore it (when I find the time). Do you think it needs a bone tip or would a wooden one be better ? Total length is : 30,5 cm. Length of blade : 22,5 cm. Here are some pics : |
