Default Tulwar for comment and /or interest

Hello Everyone, I wonder if anyone knows the purpose of this Tulwar,
O/L is 33.5 ins having a blade length of 28.5 ins x 1.375 ins wide.
The hilt has the remains of thinly applied silver decoration and the curved, single edged blade is heavily decorated on both sides with panels depicting male and female images, foliage and on one side only an elephant. On first glance the images look the same but they have different features and clothes decoration. I have tried to find a sword decorated with the same images but have only found them with hunting scenes or having images of 4 armed deities. I wonder whether mine is for religious events or whether it is a souvenir piece made for European service personnel and, if the former, who the images depict.
Regards
Miguel
