Default Primitive cutlass for I.D.

Hi

Picked this sword up the other day, it has that primitive "home-made" look that I like. Its quite short - 24 inches (61cm) in a straight line. No fuller or marks to the blade. The wooden handle appears to have been painted at one time, but since roughly scraped off.

Can anyone help with identification ? Thanks in advance.
