West African sword/cutlass

Hi

Here is one of those cross-cultural weapons that I quite like, and some forumites might be interested to see.

The blade seems to be re-worked from a European machete ? What I like best about the sword is the finely made hilt.

Comments are welcome, also any references as to origins/influences etc. If anyone has comparable pieces, do please post them...
