New Gunong
Greetings Folks!
Got this gunong from Jimmy Manteris today. It has a bone hilt with silver mounts. The blade is laminated. You will notice the angle of the hilt, the size of the filigree ring, the okir used, and the simplicity of the okir on the scabbard. Based on these aspects, I would place this piece as from Mindanao (possibly Maranao), and an early form, perhaps around the turn of the century. There is one other thing. The piece is somewhat diminuitive. It is thin and 10 inches total. Enjoy Last edited by Battara; 22nd June 2013 at 05:32 AM. |
