Philippine - Japanese sword
Hello Everyone;
I am a recent member and a new weapon enthusiast. I recently picked up this sword at auction and was informed, that it was a sword of Filipino Origin. Upon careful review and input from another knowledgeable collector, I believe it to be a Japanese sword modified using Filipino materials for the handle (horn, bronze, wood). Has anyone seen anything like this? Can anyone, help me with further input on the blade. Its specifications are as follows: Total Length: 24 inches approx Blade Length: 18.5 inches approx Handle length: 5.5 inches approx Sword Handle material: buffalo horn, kamagong ? Bronze Scabbard Material: Wood with bronze strapping I have also attached photos of the sword. I look forward to and welcome your comments. Regards, J |
