Default Sidearm of some kind?

Hi all
I'm new to this forum so please let me know if I'm doing something wrong (I've read all the rules, but still)

I own a sword that I can't identify for the life of me. Maybe someone has an idea of where it is from and what it is for.
My limited knowledge leads me to believe it is a Sidearm and English in make.
It has a makers mark on the blade and the hilt but has no pommel.
The hilt and cross guard are brass but I am not sure about the blade.
I'll be glad with any response to this post!

Cheers
