I am offering a 19th century Syrian mounted shamshir with a 17th century Persian wootz blade. The blade has very nicely executed segmented fullers in rows of 3 along with a wide channel in the middle of the blade. Very nice wootz. Anthony North references one with segemented fullers in his book "Islamic Arms of the V&A" as 17th century and then Manoucher in his book also references a dated example with near identical blade and this one is also attributed to the 17th century. The Syrian mounts are complete with the silver koftgari on the scabbard fairly worn, about 50% of it intact. The real gem on this piece is the blade. A rare style and early. I have provided a lot of pictures but please e-mail with any questions. I am asking $4800 for this piece or the best offer. E-mail inquiries can be made to
