19th C. Berber Powder Flask
This one's out of my personal collection. I am selling my Moroccan Berber powder flask, ca. 1850-1870, attributed to the Kabyle. I am selling it as I need to raise some acquisition capital for a couple swords I have come across.
Jim - when I hold it up to my ear and listen carefully, I swear I can hear "Jimmmmmmm McDouuuuugallllllllll...... Buyyyyyyyyy Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee". This is a truly exceptional example - as nice as I have ever seen. As you can see, the brass front is richly decorated with an incised motif, in direct contrast to the sparsely decorated copper back. Not only is this a visually stunning example, it is still completely functional - the valve stem turns, opening and closing the valve (separating the powder flask body from the funnel) just as it originally did 140 years ago. Priced at $700 incl. shipping worldwide. Paypal okay (add 3%). I'll add more pictures later. |
