Kai, as I said, this is a true story, and I happen to know all the people involved.

I am not prepared to comment on this particular matter,I just wanted to tell the story and open a window on Indonesia that is often covered. My reasons for doing so here are that by understanding a society better, it assists in understanding the culture of that society, and the people who comprise it.

I have seen similar situations to this repeated a number of times in Indonesia.

I am not prepared to moralise, nor to affix blame. In my experience all the people involved in these situations only act as circumstances permit.
