Time to start to thin my collection a bit and put some pieces back in circulation. Offered is a pretty rare English made tulwar by Mole of Birmingham. It is marked "KHETRI" on the pommel which also has a bar for attaching some decoration or other. I believe this was made sometime between 1880 and 1900. $300.00 + Shipping/ins.

I'm glad this sold BJ, and I wish could have bought it!!! As I mentioned, I always thing of the pair of these I sold many years ago, as I remembered them (mournfully).
To whoever purchased this....you have obtained a valued piece of the history of the Raj, and recalls the colorful units of Native Indian Cavalry who likely used these. This is an important item as a distinct link between ethnographic and regulation military weapons and would I think be an interesting topic to post of the forum. All the best, Jim |
