Default Shashka for comments

This one just ended
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT
... and for A LOT! of money
Congratulations to both seller and buyer!
I am somewhat uneasy about it: perhaps, the brownish tint makes me uncomfortable. Silver should be white... Again, is it my computer screen? And I just could not see the niello component.
But also, the discrepancy between the very used state of the blade and the pristine state of the scabbard are puzzling. the blade looks persian, but I can't recall shashkas with such a sharp point and the fullers coming so close. It must have been cleaned a lot, but there is still quite a lot of rust near the handle. This must be a good sign: otherwise, if the blade was a replacement, it would have been cleaned thru-and-thru. But still: rusty blade and all else looking like new. The leather appears to be new, which is not unusual. But the garish red stone in the middle is very strange: it totally clashes with a rich and intricate repousse work.
Perhaps my paranoia is still out of control.....
