Spanish colonial espada/broadsword/cutlass
I have decide to part ways with a few of my swords to pay for bills. Here we have a very nice and uncommon Spanish colonial broadsword/cutlass from the first quarter of the 19th c. See similar examples in Brincherhoff's "Spanish Military Weapons in North America."
Nice thick horn grip with knuckle bow and ribboned bars extending down to the cup guard. Each bar has dot-pattern decoration and is riveted to the guard. The whole hilt is tight with no movement. The blade is much older, probably German-made broadsword blade possibly from a much earlier sword, pitted with edge cuts (definitely used!) and three shallow fullers. There is also a faint dot pattern shape on the cup guard...a snake? Bird? A really cool sword that just breathes the Old South West! $600 plus shipping.
