Default Balkan flintlock pistol for comment

Hello guys ,
these days I bought this pistol .
In my opinion, the Albanian pistol was influenced by Italian style or maybe Spanish ...
I think an interesting exemplar of the Balkan flint weapon.
What is your opinion?
Any comments most appreciated.

Regards,

Ivo

I would also say Ottoman Balkan with other influences. The bottom "rat's tail" one might be from Albania?

We could do with a "like" button. Very nice pieces, but I have nothing relevant to add to the conversation.

Hi Ivo

Congratulations. That is a very nice looking Albanian pistol. And appears in excellent condition. It was likely made in one of the many Balkan gun making centers for the Albanian market. The overall construction fits that market.
What's interesting is the flat butt cap with the stud and lanyard ring. While I've seen this somewhat flat style before on a few other pistols from the Region, this is the first one I've seen built for the Albanian market/customer. Very neat looking.
The lock is the typical Balkan style miquelet found on most of these pistols. It is well made and very reliable, which is probably why we see so many of them.
The barrel is also interesting. It has many stamps. But the one showing a deer or other animal seems familiar. But I can't put my finger on it at the moment.
Hmmmm....maybe Persian (?)
Again, nice find.

Hi again Ivo

That's a nice collection of Albanian pistols. And your new pistol fits in well. Notice the similar locks on all three. But with three different butt cap designs.
The top pistol has the slightly straighter stock and a butt cap somewhat similar to Greek pistols. The middle one (your new one) has a butt cap similar to ones seen on some Ottoman pistols. The bottom one of course being the familiar rat tail. A nice collection.

Just for comparison, here is my trio of Albanian pistols. (Actually, I have two rat tails LOL). The bottom one has the bit straighter stock, and the lesser scene French style flintlock. The middle pistol has yet another common butt cap variation seen on Albanian pistols, with the top being the rat tail.
