Strange Words
Dear Dajak,
Sorry but couldn't help you with the cryptic words. They're definitely not in Malay, Minangkabau or Arabic, so I'm assuming they're in Acehnese or even Gayo. |

Battle flags used by Acehnese troops, seized by the Dutch in 1540 in battle at Barus (Tapanuli, North Sumatra) which at that time was under the authority of Aceh. The flag contains a pcture of Zulfakar (the woard of syidina Ali) and a prayer to arouse the fighting spirit. Size : 130 x 270 cm (top) They support your information about this sword being an older form |
