Moro spear? Probably not, but what?
Spear made from pamour steel, with some copper thrown in the mix. This has given it a nice coppery tint that's hard to get in the pics. Brass collar secures the head. Shaft messures 165cm. Head messures 26cm.

Hi YBR,
This one could be from a number of places. It would help if you could give us some information about it. Where and when was it bought? Did it come with other items? What did the seller know about it? Just give us somewhere to start. Ian. |

The coppery tint may be old varnish .

Only the base of the spear head makes me question it being Moro. Normally there is a chiseled base above the tang. The blade's shape and construction looks very Moro.
Is the haft especially heavy and sense wood??...if so it could be ironwood, which would make another possible argument for Moro origins. |

I would place the blade as Moro and laminated. However, the ferrule looks like a later replacement.
What is the length of the piece? |

I wouldn't be surprised when this blade is javanese. When cleaned and treated with warangan it might give a very nice pamor.
Javanese spears weren't always fancy but also very plane. Just for warfare. |

In what direction are you thinking Alan? Or are you only rather sure my Jawa guess isn't a lucky one?

It came in a parcel of spears, along with a headhunter spear and three african spears. Seller didn't know what he had. I don't think the wood is iron wood. Had a few clubs from iron wood and I don't think this is.
