Mandaya Spear Head For Comment
Hi All
Just picked this up on ebay. Looks like an old Mandaya spear head. Will clean it once it arrives and post some better pics. |

NOT THE SAME ONE AS LOUIVILLE THAT ONE RESIDES WITH ME.
ITS INTERESTING THAT TWO WOULD SHOW UP AT THE TIME BOTH WITH PART OF THE SHAFT STILL IN THE SOCKET. I HAVEN'T WORKED ON MINE YET AND AM STILL LOOKING FOR A SUITABLE SHAFT. I WISH THERE WAS A GOOD SOURCE FOR THE HEAVY BAMBOO LIKE SHAFTS SOMETIMES SEEN ON THESE. |

Probably "male bamboo" is what you are after, ie solid with no air pockets or voids between the "knots". It was the official material for Brit. Raj lance shafts, but even then was so hard to get regularly that ash was allowed as a substitute.

I was told bahi wood or kamagong wood is more traditional so I would search the Internet for 6ft staff in either wood. PMA supplies has a kamagong staff that should fit the bill .

Great looking spearhead Lew, I can't wait to see it after it arrives and you give it a good cleaning.
