Kard in Damascus steel
good day Gentlemen
during my long trip back to Paris coming from Cairo, passing by Damas (Syria) I found some (!!) ... knifes one of them it's that "kard", real damascus steel ("joar" in arabic) not some "wootz" as we may found every where in our days tks for yrs comments and appreciations à + Dom Last edited by Dom; 27th December 2008 at 12:08 PM. |

Real and with real "Jouhar" blade:-) I think it is Turkish/Ottoman. Is the handle made of stone? It looks like agate stone. These, as well as Persian Kards, are scarce finds in Damascus, and even more so in Egypt:-). there are more Kurdish daggers and blades, but not many kards, especially as nice as yours? I agree its Ottoman remember Syria was part of the Ottoman Empire.
