The pakayun is associated with the Murut who are not Dayak. Most of the Murut live in Sabah, I believe. John is our resident expert on that area and for this particular type of sword. Ian. |

That's quite a nice piece Bill. I've seen pakayun blades with one to three grooves and have 3 pakayuns myself but nowhere as nice as yours. |

Small world indeed. I especially like the basket weave of the rattan on the hilt. All one continuous weave, even going around the corners. Impressive work. Ian. |
