Hello Kubur,

Yes, it's a pedang.

Orang Jawa would probably call it a pedang tusuk. Not sure what the preferred name would be for orang Sunda (AFAIK, [pe]dang implies a curved blade in that language). In Sumatra this would be a relatively rare blade type, probably without any well-known dedicated name. Pedang lurus will be understood by all speakers of Bahasa Indonesia, I guess.

The hilt seems well carved and is not uncommon on (southern) Sumatra. The leather-covered scabbard and (later?) brass fittings may suggest a Sunda origin IMHO.

Regards,
Kai

Hello Kubur,

you are not wrong, the blade shape is typical for a pedang lurus but I agree with Kai that it is a pedang as the complete sword.
Leather scabbards I know only from Java. I never has seen a leather scabbard by any Sunda swords. The pamor look also very Javanese to my eyes.
It's a very interesting short sword for sure!

Regards,
Detlef
