Hello ,
At first happy newyear to all !! I,m offered a spear, see the photo it is the top one , the other one is clearly Atjeh. But i.m not 100% sure about the origin of the top one , so a ''shout'' for help for this one . IMO it,s a sumatran sprear probaly from Atjeh but any help is welcom. Regards, Danny |

I WOULD AGREE IT IS LIKELY FROM SUMATRA. THEY MAKE VERY GOOD QUALITY SPEARS AND THERE IS QUITE A VARIETY OF FORMS EVEN IN THE SMALL AREA OF NIAS. A VERY NICE BLADE AND IS THE FERRULE SILVER?

Hi Willem And Vandoo,
I picked up the lance yesterday and did made some extra pictures. Still not clear where it comes from but like Willem suggested it looks like it is from Celebes .In the database from Rmv i find Lance's with similair construction and also in the book from Zonneveld . Total lenght is 218 cm. The point is heavy and nicely forged, on the end there is missing a endcap. |
