New adquisition; filipino bolo
Hello!!
This is my last adquisition, I just win in the Ebay. Seems like a filipino bolo, with a unusual hilt with form of dog. Measures 17 in long. Opinions are welcome!! thanks again carlos |

Congratulations! Yes it is a Luzon bolo but with a dog? Interesting piece especially with the carving in horn and the brass inlay.
Wonder how I missed that one? |

Not so sure it is a dog; check the bump on the nasal ridge .

Hello Carlos,
What a beautiful Luzon bolo !!! Like Jose, I cannot believe that I missed this. Could you post a picture of the hilt looking at it from the front? I don't really think that this is a dog either with that protrusion on the bridge of the nose. As far as age, I would think that with the decorations on what is left of the scabbard and the quality of the carving that it would date to the first quarter of the 20th century (if not a little earlier). My congratulation to you on this new addition to your collection. I am VERY jealous !!! Robert |
