Drooling at Charles perfect new Garab reminded me of;
Is the different colours/materials of the handle an indicator of age or origin? Enclosed two examples to illustrate those I know of. Michael |

What I've been finding interesting is the number and kind of different woods used within a given piece; often the sheath and hilt are of different woods, and often also, the sheath's front and back sides.
The black wood in the photo appears to be coloured or patinaed; where it is worn/chipped it is lighter? |

Yes that's correct regarding the black colour on the hilt.
