Default Knife for ID - Persian, Sumatran or ???

Dear all forumites,

I bought this knife in a lot together with a Sulawesi Badik and a Tumbuk Lada at a local auction house here in Sweden.
Does any of you recognize where it comes from and what it is?

Thanks,

Michael

I am going to guess SE Asia on this example. The shape and decoration on the ferrule remind me very much of those found on dha and on the knives one often sees. The blade shape would also match those found on the dha knives and the scabbard as well. The handle seems quite unique for that region though but perhaps is a form found closer to the Burma/China border due to the stones in the handle??? Interesting knife.

What is that handle surface? Is it wire wrap? Could this be Tibetan or Tibetan-influenced?

Thanks both of you for the fast input!!!

Yes it looks like wire wrap.
I have enclosed one more picture below (sorry about the flash and my lousy photographic skills) that perhaps makes it easier to see the handle.
