Odd knife
Hello all
Had anybody come across one of these. Supposedly German and very well constructed. Solid diamond section, leaf shaped blade and wooden handle. Hard to tell age as it seems over cleaned but seems to be for serious use, rather than decoration. About 12" long in total. Any help very much appreciated. Cheers Andy |

That looks pretty cool. I have no idea what it is, but it looks like something Bilbo or Frodo Baggins might carry around (any elvish runes visible -- maybe under the full moon?).

Ah pre-dates Bilbo just a bit
Well it certainly predates the films at least but it is an oddity. As I say, blade looks good quality and right, for a fighting knife. Pommel, which doesnt show well on the photo looks very old, with good patina. Wood is undefinable in age but is very well shaped to the hand. Cross guard, is rough, almost of a handforged quality to make it appear older. I'm stumped...oh and no makers name or marks.

Looks like some kind of 19th cent European 'dirk',I think Germany is a definate possiblility but could have been from Endland or even here in the US.
