Kurdish (?) Jambiya
Just ended.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=012 The form is unmistakeably Kurdish. I am a bit confused by the silver embellishments on the handle. Not that I think they might be fake, Heavens forbid: I saw similar on another Jambiya or two. But they look Arabian ( as in Peninsula ) to me. Recently, another knife was discussed http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=5825 It also had 3 prongs on the pommel. Any ideas? |

definitely Kurdish style, IMHO
Pretty sure it's Kurdish... they make what to me is the most functional jambiya of all.
Who got it? I'd love to see it cleaned and etched. Sometimes they're wootz. |

Yes, I would definitely say Kurdish. Perhaps for a higher ranking person with the 9 silver (?) filigree bulbs.
Here is one link of many on Artzi's site that show similar Kurdish pieces: http://www.oriental-arms.com/item.php?id=1237 |
