Weapon for ID
Hello, folks.
I bought this item a few years ago, but I can't figure out what type of weapon it is and what region it belongs to. At first, based on the shape and material of the handle, I assumed that it was an Afghan weapon. However, the shape of the blade and its point are more similar to Indian weapons. However, I have not seen similar blades. Does anyone have any ideas about this subject? I will add a little description: the total length is 79 cm, the length of the blade is 67 cm. The sheath is of recent manufacture. |

Hi
You have some hilts like that in Northern India. https://www.mandarinmansion.com/inde...n-karud-dagger British and French were in Northern India, I guess your scabbard and the lanyard are from one of them. Your sword looks like a mix between khyber knife and Sosun Patta reused by a British or a French. |

I agree with Kubur. It looks like a Khyber knife with an armour piercing tip.

Kubur and Battara thank you for comments.
To sum up, we can say that: 1. the place of origin of this weapon is Northern India. 2. this weapon does not have its own name and is not a type of any particular weapon. Rather, it is a hybrid. |

Is the blade made from flat stock or is it V shaped? Scabbard tip looks like the British 1860p bayonet in design. The old leather strap does not convince me this piece is old.
