Another pistol for Identification
Geetings. Below is the last of my pistols that I am trying to identify/date/authenticate, for the time being.
I don't have the reference material to assist with checkig these items out, but I am working on remedying that issue. The inlaid wire is proud of the wood in most place. I think the stylised faces are probaby the key to this one. Forgive the badly out of focus photo, the writing on the lock, if it is writing, may be a key as well. I didn't realise it was so bad until I went to upload them. If required I will post a better photo in a day or so. What are your thoughts? |

Hi Oz.
WOW!! Another really nice pistol, with some neat, unusual features. I notice the use of larger diameter, flattened silver wire sitting well above the stock, versus the small, thin diameter wire usually encountered. And done in an unusual pattern. Also, the cannon style muzzle on the barrel, seldom seen on these Balkan made pistols. The faces on the barrel are often seen on Greek guns. So, this gun may have been made at one of the Balkan gunmaking centers, for the Greek market. At least that's my first impression. Question: The iron ramrod looks to be full length. Is it so? Do you have a photo of the trigger guard? Great looking pistol. Rick. |
