Default SAMAL BARUNG

Hi,

from my father's collection. a barung from the Samal tribe. With an OAL of 15.4 inches and a 10 inch blade.

Probable era/age?

With its size, I assume its probable for means to be carried by a kid, woman or mean for concealment.

Regards

Yves

Hello Yves,

Thanks for posting this Samal barung. The kakatua hilt would suggest WWII era or a little earlier, and the scabbard is consistent with that time frame. Would you post its dimensions please?
