Default African knife

Got this a couple of days ago from someone who know that I am interested in different kind of blades....
Donīt know anything about it but I just guess, Africa....
Should appreciate any opinions at all about it.... Thank you...

I quite like it, looks pretty deadly to me. It has the appearance of a crudely made "Swagger Stick" but I having no idea of its dimensions I don't really know just my guess.

I brought nearly the same years ago from Ethiopia. Typical staff "used" by various guards (zabaňa).

With the leather covering it would be from the West Africa/Sahel region.

From the images it looks quite crudely made, so its possible its a souvenir item made for sale, but this is often difficult to determine.

This is probably not the first thing I should buy but got it from a friend and I think it was nice of him. Probably a tourist thing.
