Default Interesting Philippine Knife

Picked this one up today. What I find interesting is the bone hilt never saw one before on a bolo style knife?

Followed this one also, nice catch I think. The blade seems to have lamination.
Congradulations.

Hello Louie,
Great bolo. I have seen bone grips before on Philippine pieces (mostly daggers) but not on a bolo. This looks like it might have a nice laminated blade and possibly be pre WWII but with a newer sheath. I also was watching this and would have probably came in second place on the bidding. First bid to low and not enough time to place the second. Have you received it yet and if so does the tang extent through the hilt? If you would, please post a close-up of the end view of the hilt when you can. Congratulations on a very nice addition to your collection.

Robert

P.S. If you get tired of looking at this please let me know.

Rob

Has not arrived yet but when it gets here I will give it an etch and let you know if it's laminated.

Lew,
Haven't been around for awhile. Hopped on and notice your knife.

Similar to one I posted 4 years ago. When I did my etch I was pleasantly surprised with the differential hardening and colors. I hope yours holds something similar.

Here's a link to that thread since I'm not sure how to re-post the picture.

Notice the faceting and angled cuts are the same on the hilt.

Hi Moose

Well I just heard from the seller today that the knife showed up back at his house due to the wrong mailing address so he will resend tomorrow and keeping my fingers crossed.
