Default Help needed with the ID of this unusual small knife

Still dragging oddities out of my 'heap' and came across this odd lirrle crude knife . Any suggestions as to what it might be. I would have dismissed it as crude utility piece but for the odd 'pommel' with the hole through c/w with tiny projecting metal spike . Overall length 7.5 inches , blade length 3.5 inches. The scabbard is a cut down but typical British sheath knife scabbard , but this may more of a recent marriage.

The way the handle sinks into the scabbard, presuming the scabbard was cut to accept the knife in that style. May be a pointer.

Not that I think is likely related, but the style of construction reminds me of a type of medieval Irish longsword, as discussed in the link below. The little spike in the open ring pommel looks like it could be the tip of the tang.

Have fun,

very interesting .... yes the little 'spike' is the tip of the tang , but why the handle is designed to exhibit it is a mystery to me.
