I am betting this one is huge, with a thick and heavy blade(should clean up much more dramatically than shown)....and from Sumatra I believe.

Bill

It's a klewang and a pretty rare one with it's rounded riccasso. I happen to have one just like it but with a laquered scabbard the blade exhibits the same exact pamor but mine has been polished up so it's harder to see. I think the pamor is called grasshoper teeth or someting like that? Will post a pic of it when I get home tonight. Bill notice the klewang at the bottom of the photo similar to yours but with a flattened riccasso.

Very nice piece

Congrats

While it certainly is a klewang-type blade, Bill's nice piece with its characteristic kembang kacang seems to be a variation of what Albert van Zonneveld refers to as "Pedang 3" (attributed to Palembang). The rounded "ricasso" is a really nice touch - could this possibly be a Batak influence?

Regards,
Kai

Hi all,

Hmmm ..... blade is reminiscent of a Pedang Sabet Lameng/Luwuk Kalawijan ...

Cheers.
