Persian shamshir-translation requested if possible
Here is a Persian shamshir with a rather long gold inscription. The handle is of the Syrian type with either gold or brass twisted wire and gold? rivets. 32 inch blade of the Kara-Taban (patches of black) type wootz, said to be one of the most esteemed type of wootz. Unfortunatly no scabbard. Any translation would be greatly appreciated............Dave.

nice piece. Will be hard to translate like this.. need better images.
It appears that the flower shaped cartouche (later, common Syrian addition) covers an older one? such a shame. |

Dave,
I can't help with the translation, since it is in Arabic. However I noticed something, in the picture of the floral cartouche, it seems that it is later work and is covering another much older cartouche, and the color of the text seems the same as the newer cartouche. Is that what you see as well? |
