Wound treatment book circa 1700?
Just wondering if anyone remembers a book on the treatment of sword and spear wounds. IIRC, there was a link to it posted on the forum some time ago. .
The date was around 1700-1800 as I recall, and English. Many of the cases were dueling injuries. |

Im not sure of what reference is meant here, but as far as sword wounds etc. there was a book published in 1999, by J. Christopher Amberger, Titled "The Secret History of the Sword". He is a Master of Arms, champion fencer and historian and much of the material tends to the kinds of wounds in duels etc. through history.
There is a book by H.W, Haggard titled "Devils, Drugs and Doctors" (1929) which covers the often bizarre beliefs and treatments toward wounds as well as general medical matters. These two sources might have something useful, but cannot think of the one you are referring to specifically. |
