A Gunong for your viewing
I did a trade today and this is one of three pieces I got.
I believe it is a Gunong, most likely from the 20th Century. I know it is razor sharp. Blade measures about 14 inches.No matter what it sure is pretty. I just hope it is not a tourist piece. Any comments are welcome! |

Sorry Terry, fairly recent. So second half of 20th century is correct.

Detlef is on the money! I agree with him 100%, only adding that the mounts are brass, the scabbard seems to be bone (maybe born), and the pommel is bone in recent form. These were being made in Marawi city (until ISIS showed up ). Truly from the Maranao tribe on Mindanao Island.
